Evaluation
The course evaluation policy is:
- Minor: 20%
- Major: 30%
- Lab exams: 13% (2 exams)
- Lab work completion/viva: 10%
- In-class paper quizzes: 15% (3 quizzes)
- Python assessment test/4th week quiz: 5% (Maximum of the scores obtained in this quiz and the test conducted in July 2026 will be considered.)
- Attendance: 4% (lectures) + 3% (labs)
Tentative Quiz schedule
- 4th week quiz: 17th August, 2026, 6:30 - 7:30 pm
- 1st paper quiz: 3rd september
- 2nd paper quiz: 15th october
- 3rd paper quiz: 5th November
- Lab exam 1: 6th Sept
- Lab exam 2: 15th Nov
Course Policies and Acadmic Honesty
- Attendance policy: 4% for class attendance and 3% for lab attendance
- Policy on plagiarism and other infractions (including LLM usage):
- Copying weekly programming assignments: 0 for the first case and -1% out of 100% for every additional case.
- Cheating on proctored tests (quiz, lab quiz, minor, major): F grade and DISCO (which may impose additional penalty). Cheating cases may not be allowed to take the course in summer.
- Policy on missed evaluations: (Only based on IITD Medical certificate)
- Lab submission/viva: Normalization of scores, unless the number of submission is less than 8 which will be handled as exceptions (on a case-by-case basis).
- In-class quiz: rescaling based on the major exam
- Lab quiz: A harder lab quiz close to the major exam
- Minor: rescaling based on the major exam
- Major: I-grade as per rules of the institute
- Audit policy: NA since this is a core course for all
